課程概述	空間分析被譽為是考古學發展中量化與運用統計技術最成功者。人類學者認為空間是社會現象的基本要素之一，也是社會現象中具有抽象與實體二面，又能落實到一般日常生活之中的重要課題。空間以自然的地理形式或人為的建構環境為基本，但又依人的各種活動而有不同的建構結果，而人的活動的結構、物質的空間模式可反映出這些空間的建構與概念。空間分析主要在瞭解器物、或遺址在一遺址內、或一地區上的空間分佈或結構，以揭示人的各種活動內容、與其空間分佈，及與其它形物的關係，進而作為瞭解人群的空間建構與概念、甚而其背後塑模其之社會關係、意識形態、宇宙觀等等。研究的基本層次可分數個，本課程的主旨即在介紹與討論各種不同層次之空間分析的方法與技術。
